Wedding Love Stories: Clare and Ian
Clare and Ian came to us in 2017 with a vision for their wedding that married up perfectly with the style we have developed over the years: relaxed, candid, but with an attention to detail that really gave the final day the 'wow factor.'

They met while out for the evening with friends in Salisbury, but it was outside Edinburgh Castle that Ian popped the question and asked Clare to be his wife. From here, the plans began to fall into place, and we were asked to photograph one of the most important days of their lives. Of course, as always honoured to be a part of something so special, we accepted, and watched the next couple of years of their love story unfold...

Venue
It was the gardens at Larmer Tree that drew them to their dream venue - the open green spaces, but with the added touch of the stage, which acted as the perfect frame for the larger, fun group photos. Every wedding we've photographed here has resulted in beautiful photographs. The second-most important space for Clare and Ian was the Wedding Breakfast Room, where such a crucial scene was due to take place. Everything had to be just right.
Suppliers
Clare and Ian secured the suppliers they wanted for the day: Teresa Jolly for the bride and bridesmaid's make-up; The Deloreons (well-known around Salisbury) for the music; Chas H Baker for the groom and groomsmen's suits; and Pomp and Petals for the stunning flowers.

Dress and Suits
For many brides, the dress can make or break their day. Finding something that captures the essence of your individual style and personality can feel paramount. Clare is herself a talented wedding dress designer, who is always kept busy, so she knew exactly what she was looking for. She envisaged a vintage, beaded dress, and found a Jasmine Couture gown with a 1920s feel that she loved. Often, it can seem as though there aren't the same degree of choices available for the groom's suit; but Clare and Ian knew they wanted a mix of both blue/grey tones and tweeds.
Catering
The Larmer Tree provide their own caterers, Forkingout, and they did not disappoint, serving food that matched the beauty of the Wedding Breakfast Room that Clare and Ian had fallen in love with. Clare and Ian were given the opportunity to taste a selection of menus, before making any personal changes as needed. The food went down a treat with guests, and they received many compliments.
Most Memorable Moment
For Clare, the most memorable moment of the day, immortalised in her wedding photography, was walking down the aisle to meet her husband-to-be. This is the moment around which the whole day can revolve; that romantic exchange of glances between the couple, where everything feels as though it has magically, and effortlessly, come together...
Clare and Ian's Tips for Wedding Planning
Try to be as relaxed as possible; the finer details really do not matter, and will probably be un-noticed by guests.
Make sure you like the inside of your venue as well as the outside, as you can't control the weather!
